White Collar
Members of the White Collar/Business Crimes Practice Groups counsels clients in connection with criminal, civil and regulatory investigations conducted by government agencies in their respective countries, including federal, state and local governmental agencies. Additionally, through our Practice Group, members refer competent and trustworthy attorneys in other jurisdictions who find themselves under investigation in such jurisdictions. Members not only refer clients to other attorneys but also may serve as a liaison between the referred attorney and the client providing a sense of confidence and comfort to the client. Members also advise clients on strategies to minimize the risks of governmental enforcement actions from their own countries.
Our government investigations attorneys include lawyers with extensive experience in both the prosecution and defense of criminal and administrative proceedings. Mackrell’s White-Collar/Business Crime attorneys possess substantive expertise in areas of the law that are uniquely susceptible to governmental scrutiny, including healthcare, environmental compliance, banking, antitrust, securities. We have vast expertise in handling cases involving fraud, private and public corruption, tax evasion, and extradition matters.
We also conduct internal investigations for clients who have been alerted to allegations of misconduct prior to or contemporaneous with governmental inquiries. Internal investigations are critical to ensuring that management makes informed, rational decisions with respect to actual or potential violations of law. In addition, internal investigations are useful in assisting clients in making appropriate public disclosure of material facts and in avoiding corporate liability for the criminal acts of employees.
