Hoge Fenton is pleased to announce that Shareholder and Chair of the firm’s Privacy & Data Security and Intellectual Property groups, Stephanie O. Sparks has been selected as Chair of the Education and Awareness Subcommittee of the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Data Protection Committee for a two-year term (2022-2023).
The Data Protection Committee develops and advocates INTA's policy on the impact of data protection law on trademark rights. The Committee monitors and analyzes data protection cases, legislation, and regulations in various jurisdictions, and proposes policy recommendations to the Board. Committee work includes writing reports and submissions, interacting with data protection organizations, and advocacy in conjunction with relevant committees and staff.
The Education and Awareness Subcommittee is charged with building a body of work for training and awareness that identifies key issues for trademark owners in the areas of privacy and data protection.
Stephanie joined the firm as an Associate Attorney in 2001. In 2006, she was elevated to Shareholder and started the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. In 2008, she also formed and became the Chair of Hoge Fenton's Privacy and Data Security practice group.
She counsels companies on privacy laws and helps them create and implement compliance programs, as well as administrative, technical, and physical safeguards for regulated data.
