Weir & Associates is pleased to announce that it has gained the approval of the Hong Kong Law Society to have Mr. Carlos Lobo, a Macau solicitor, to join the firm as a Registered Foreign Lawyer to expand our team of lawyers. We understand that Weir & Associates are the first firm to take this initiative in Hong Kong; Mr. Lobo joined the firm formally on 1st February 2020.
Mr. Lobo, who is a partner at MCL Law firm, is a well-established and experienced lawyer in Macau, with over 20 years of expert experience in the Macau and Portuguese-orientated legal field. His practice focuses on corporate law, where he regularly advises SMEs as well as corporations on matters related to the Macau gaming industry. Mr. Lobo has previously represented Venetian Macau Limited as its Associate General Counsel for matters related to gaming operations, and has worked in senior positions in the Macau SAR Government. He speaks fluent English and Portuguese, and is conversational in Spanish.
Mr. Lobo’s strong business networks, combined with his caliber of expertise and access in corporate and gaming matters, will no doubt contribute to the team of lawyers at Weir & Associates in serving its international-based clientele.
“The addition of Carlos reflects our commitment to providing an unparalleled multi-jurisdictional coverage to fully meet our clients’ international needs,” said Mr. Shane Weir, senior partner at Weir & Associates. “His valuable expert experience and access to information regarding the political and gaming sector, including in anti-money laundering laws and regulations, will bolster our firm’s networks and reputation as an all-round business law firm. We are thrilled to have him in our team.”
